We visited Jo and Francoise in Eyne, a small village in the heart of the Pyrenees, last autumn. We knew we had to go back and get others to experience a biking holiday at this amazing gite on the doorstep of some of the best trails we’ve ever ridden.
Jo is a mountain bike guide in Morzine through the summer, but grew up in Eyne so knows the biking better than anyone. His childhood was spent riding bikes here and he returns each spring and autumn to find more trails and ride his old favourites. After much begging from us he’s agreed to share them; and with flowy twisty singletrack, short rocky chutes and mind blowing views you won’t be disappointed. A fully qualified instructor and guide he can also coach you through the tricky bits to make sure you get the most out of your time in the mountains. Find out more about Jo here.
And then you get to rest and relax at Gite Cal Pai. This place blew us away: the sunny garden, large dining area full of antiques, and the pretty bedrooms. Plus the cooking….Francoise, Jo’s Mum, is someone who loves to cook, from the amazing homemade jams to the incredible tarts and crème catalan I don’t think we’ve ever eaten so well! The Gite is in the quiet farming town of Eyne, and after a hard days riding it’s the perfect place to recuperate so you get back to the city feeling fresh. Find out more about the gite, and photos here.
Some riding pics from our trip last autumn are here.
